This extended play (EP) record is dedicated to my son Joe Petitt and his wife Elizabeth, who used it in their wedding on July 23, 2011. They asked me to write a song for the lighting of the unity candle; I wrote “When Love Overtakes” and was then inspired to write “Wedding Day” and “Father’s Prayer.” I had written “Groom’s Bridal March” some years earlier and decided to include it in this collection. That song became the processional for the wedding, and when “Father’s Prayer” was chosen for the first dance at the reception, I was reduced to tears, as were many other people. That — and the entire day, for that matter — was a very moving and unforgettable experience.
To Joe and Elizabeth: may this music find you together in an ever growing, ever deepening love for many years to come. May God bless you both!
